Doctor Who has existed in many sorts of printed media for nearly fifty years. Initially beginning as a television serial in 1963, Doctor Who has gone on to have practically one-thousand televised episodes, over two hundred audio adventures and close to four hundred novels and then some.

Like other things of recognition within the world of such a rich universe, Doctor who has also had its fair share of spin-offs. The question of where or not have Doctor Who spin offs been successful r not may be argued. The initial Doctor Who spinoff came in 1981 in the form of the one-off special entitled 'K9 and Firm'. This series would find the pairing of two of the very famous companions in Doctor Who history; that being roving female journalist, Sarah Jane Smith as well as the mechanical yet cute robotic dog, known just as K9. The two had never once met in the actual program but were paired together as Sarah-jane discovers a replica of K9 left for her in her loft by the Physician. Together the two would team up with Brendan Richards, a ward of Sarah Jane's Aunt Lavinia and solve mysteries. Unfortunately, the trio only ever solved one puzzle on screen - 'K9 and Company' wasn't well received Doctor Who DVD.

For the next twenty-five years there would never be an effort at a Doctor Who spinoff - not till the series Torchwood. Torchwood would view its first appearance in the 2nd time of the recently revived Doctor Who Seasons 1-7 DVD as a covert organization high up in the British Government. Torchwood's entire existence was supposed to hunt the Doctor. The Doctor in his tenth avatar introduced Torchwood to its knees but Torchwood would continue to live on under the constraint of the Doctor's former short lived company, Captain Jack Harkness. Captain Jack types a different Torchwood which is located in Cardiff and they look for alien threats to Earth. A rather successful series, Torchwood has had four seasons, many novels and sound adventures. It has even been made for a time in America.

The 2nd most recent Doctor Who spinoff is 'The Sarah-jane Adventures'. Once again we see Sarah-jane and her trusted robotic canine companion team up with a group of children who resolve alien mysteries. The Sarah Jane Adventures was a Doctor Who spin off aimed completely at children. It was an instant success in 2006. However the series was cut short by the tragic death of actress Elizabeth Sladen who plays Sarah-jane Smith. The producer of the series, Russell T Davies, has said that he absolutely had no plan of stopping the series until this event. This may simply leave one to consider that the Sarah Jane Adventures was truly quite well-known.

The Doctor Who Action Figures are a treat for every Doctor Who fanatic. It comes in a set of 10 action figures which is packaged in a window design carton.

The figures are characters from the first show that was aired in 2005. Some of the Doctor Who Figure characters though have previously appeared or have been mentioned in the older Doctor Who show. The show is a sci fi TV program that has been entertaining generations after generations view soure.
