Botox (botulinum toxin A so-called) has been known for years as the procedure of choice for smoothing wrinkles of the face. However, research has exhibited that Botox is much more than a cosmetic treatment. What is curious are the different health benefits of Botox treatment. Some of these are already established and approved, others are still under investigation, however provocative.
The extensive list of Botox injection usages includes, but excessive sweating of armpits, hands and feet (called hyperhidrosis), and headache (migraine some species). In addition, a study suggests that Botox injections can treat hair loss in the scalp. Another report says that people can significantly improve incontinence by using Botox.
The medical use of Botox began in the early 70s as for ophthalmic use. However, this application has led to an unexpected side effect: the toxin has partially paralyzed the muscles of the forehead, thus preventing the formation of wrinkles. Since the discovery of the cosmetic use of botulinum toxin, known as Botox, it has proven to be one of the most successful weapons against the aging process in aesthetic medicine.
