Sri Lanka - A Pearl in the Indian Ocean

The ruins stand in the east shore of the sizable artificial lake, the Topa Wewa Lake, created by King Parakramabahu I, whose reign was Polonnaruwa's golden age. In just a rectangle of defensive walls stand palace buildings and clusters of dozens of dagobas, temples and several other religious buildings.
