The list below has all of my favorite sewing tips, gathered over the years of sewing. With them, your creative process will become so much easier. Some help you solve issues you have when sewing, some save your time so that you can focus more on creating something cool.
Use A Plastic Bag To Sew Bulky Fabrics
If you have sewn bulky fabrics, I bet you still remember the pain of pushing the fabric through the sewing machine. Fake fur, terrycloth, batting, and many more create a tug of war between your patience and the presser foot.
A simple solution is to cut a plastic bag into strips and put them on the fabric you are going to sew. Now proceed as usual and let the needle sew on the plastic too. You will find your fabric glides smoothly.

Now even your good sewing machine for beginners can handle layers of fabrics with ease.
Use A Rubber Band To Make A Seam Allowance

Use the rubber band to mark seam allowance
How to sew perfect seam allowance when you don’t have a guide or anything like that?
A good way is to use a rubber band. Find a ruler and determine the allowance you need to sew, and then slide the rubber band to mark that spot. Now all you need to do it to line the edge of the fabric with the band.
Know The Application Of All The Stitches You Have
Some stitches do not only look nice, but they also have more practical applications you may not know about. For example, zigzag stitches can be used to sew stretchy fabrics and finish an edge.
The more stitch types you have, the more ways you can use them to create something new or solve some sewing problems.
My best basic sewing machine has a nice collection of stitch types. If you want one like mine, see here: http://www.radiobalaguer.cat/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5324

Finish Without A Serger

Finish the edge with pinking shears
You can still finish an edge professionally without a serger. The method I find the most convenient is to use pinking shears.
Thread Elastic By A Safety Pin
If the instruction requires an elastic band, an easy way to thread it through is the hook a safety pin to one of its ends and feed the whole thing through.
Work carefully so that not to losing the pin while you are in the middle of the work. If you don’t have pins around, anything with the same effect will do the tricks.
Buy A Walking Foot If Your Machine Does Not Have One
Multiple layers of fabrics are not just difficult to sew through; they can easily go off course or slide on each other. In this case, my favorite solution is to attaching on a walking foot.
A foot like this can be handy in sewing slippery fabrics as well.
My sewing machine has a walking foot by standard; You can also buy the best inexpensive sewing machine for beginners
by searching for sewing machines under $100 available at online stores.
